Practicing since 1976.
CIYT Level 3
I am inspired by the profound and sensitive teaching of yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar and his children, Geetaji and Prashantji. My regular visits to Pune enrich and nourish my practice and teachings. I enjoy teaching advanced students, those beginning to understand the depth of practice, and those who suffer with back challenges. In the first chapter of the Yoga Sutras Patañjali gives several methods to calm the mind and prepare it for spiritual evolution—have a soft, slow exhalation and wait for awhile, witness the serenity and peace in that empty space after exhalation. I find this sutra to be quieting to my nervous system and a great comfort to deal with the stresses of life. https://www.kalefyoga.com/

Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg.
This session will present how to elongate the spine and how to lengthen and soften the column of muscles that supports the spine through basic asana with modifications to accommodate the healing process and alleviate pain. Participants will learn to recognize how the asanas relate to postural alignment and activities of daily living and ways to prevent recurrence of sciatica.
