List of Amy’s Sessions
Title:
Type:
[B] Breath and Energy Work
Level:
All Levels
Length:
1.0 hour(s)
Description:
Brahmana (uplifting) breathing practices will be alternated with calming practices. The intent of this session is, through the practice of pranayama and kriya, to create a strong, stable sense of presence, to elevate the mood and to clear the constrictions, not just in the pranamaya kosha. Your breath can create a window through the constrictions in all the koshas. This session is appropriate for yoga practitioners, yoga professionals and health care professionals. Contraindications will be given for various health conditions, time of day, and setting.
Notes:
Please come with an empty stomach. If you are watching on demand, please do not practice in the late afternoon or evening. Please follow the guidelines for pacing and the contraindications for some of the practices. Follow along in a space where you can sit, stand and stretch your arms wide. I look forward to seeing you on Zoom!
Title:
Yoga Meditations for Mood Management
Type:
[C] The Divine Is Within / Contemplative Spirituality
Level:
All Levels
Length:
1.5 hour(s)
Description:
When we suffer from depression, anxiety or have a history of trauma, there is often an accompanying rumination. When we meditate using a mantra or a mindfulness technique like watching the breath, our negative self-talk can overwhelm us, and we may spiral deeper into our mood imbalance. Mindfulness is a wonderful meditation technique once we have developed enough "witness consciousness" to observe our self-limiting thoughts, feelings and moods, but it may not be useful if we are new to meditation or in the throes of depression. What helps us in these constricting mind states is to "give the mind a bone." Yoga meditation practices can do this by including pranayama breathing, mudra, mantra chanting and bhavana. In this session we will create a portal into a calmer state of mind with these yoga meditation techniques, so that we can build the muscle of mindfulness.
Notes:
Please join with an empty belly.
