“The modern yogi’s path”
An Online Yoga Festival

Part I: Iyengar Yoga Intensive: Monday 21 – Friday 25 October, 2024
Part II: Open Weekend: Friday 25 – Sunday 27 October, 2024

Those who first discovered yoga could hardly have envisioned the world we now live in.

Do yoga's fundamental concepts continue to have any relevance today? Is it really possible to teach and learn yoga in virtual sessions, for example; or does yoga—by its very nature—require the more traditional in-person contact, hands on adjustments, and individualized transmissions?

And what of the 'guru' who is said to guide us from darkness to light? Is there still value in the “guru-śiṣya” (“guru-shishya”) tradition where a chosen teacher 'transmits' yoga's precepts and practice to create, for each student, a deep personalized reality of how to live life and how to understand the universe? How should yoga's precepts and timeless wisdom best be encouraged so they take residence within us; and so that they are properly relevant to how we live, work, and function in the world that we inhabit right now … and so they help foster a world view based on a deepened sense of all humanity and all existence?

The Navayogimārga Festival is intended as a gathering where—guided by a cadre of premier international teachers from many traditions who share their deeply personal experiences and practices—issues like these can be explored by us all. The Festival will give us the opportunity to celebrate yoga in the spirit of gratitude for where we have all come from, and to participate in the conversation about the multitude of ways both our international yoga community and every individual within it might be heard and nurtured as we all face the future.

The first part of the Festival offers five days of practice with well-known and respected Iyengar certified teachers. Most are direct students of BKS Iyengar. This is followed by a second part that is an Open Weekend featuring some of the best Presenters from other traditions. All Faculty are friends, colleagues and/or students of Kofi Busia, from his over fifty years of teaching yoga all over the world.

Sessions include asana, pranayama, meditation, and philosophy, and will give participants a unique chance to sample in-depth and highly personalized offerings from some of the best-known spiritual teachers in the world.

We look forward to welcoming you.
