Ancient yogis “saw†that we are made of 72,000 Nadis, currents for our energy (Prana) to travel, within the whole system.
Of that number, three Nadis are most important for yogis to understand to manage energy and establish balance in their life. Two of the Nadis are polar opposites and naturally alternate in their dominance, leading to a higher or lower energy throughout the day. When both are balanced, then the third can open, which permits one to access Chakras, Kundalini energy, a deep meditative state, even a connection to Supreme Consciousness.
Jeanne will introduce the Nadi system with a brief talk that explains the big picture and how each of the three operate. We will then move into an asana practice that brings the awareness to the three Nadis, in a variety of postures. (Yes, it’s crazy, and quite amazing).
The sequence will lead to a Pranayama practice of Nadi Shodhana, one of the most revered forms of Pranayama. This will take students into a Tantric Kriya, Prana Shuddhi, ultimately leading to the central channel. When we balance the left and right dualities in the body and mind and access the central Nadi, we are unaffected by dualities in any aspect of our life. This equanimity, according to scriptures and a variety of yoga styles, is the goal of yoga – to find one’s center of inner wisdom and love.
