Alignment is a foundational concept in the Yoga Tradition and is related to the idea of Sacred Order (ṛta). In the Yogic paradigm, dharma is connected to an individual’s unique spiritual purpose. Concepts of dharma are intrinsically linked to living and practicing in a way that allows for individual flourishing.
The Classical Yoga Tradition, in looking at the life of a Yogi, developed the idea of the four goals of life (purusharthas) which are spiritual purpose (dharma), gaining a livelihood and material resources (artha), enjoying relationships and love (kama) and liberation (moksha). Within the sister-discipline of Jyotish (Vedic astrology) an individual’s horoscope is used to analyze the balance between these four life-goals and is meant to guide the individual through the phases of life.
Traditional systems such as Yoga contain a set of codes and higher principles to guide the Yoga practitioner, the connecting concept being that we should be in alignment with ṛta, dharma and higher law.
In this workshop we will be exploring the Vedic Concept of Dharma including these four life-goals and is meant to guide the practicing yogi through the various phases of life. Yoga offers one of the clearest and most accessible pathways to connect to the Divine and provides step by step guidance in the journey towards higher consciousness.
