BIOGRAPHY: Pixie Lillas

Pixie Lillas started Yoga in Florence, Italy with Dona Holleman in 1976, and she made her first trip to study with BKS Iyengar at his Institute in Pune, India in 1977. Pixie found doing classes with Guruji over 2 months that year to be a completely transformative experience, and she has dedicated herself to the practice and teaching of Iyengar Yoga since then. Pixie has travelled almost yearly to study with the Iyengar family since that first visit.

In 1980 Pixie moved from Florence to Sydney, Australia and set up Balmain Yoga Studio, one of the earliest Iyengar Yoga studios in Australia. She continues to run the school today.

Apart from regular class teaching, Pixie is involved in ongoing Teacher Development for certified teachers. She also runs yearly retreats and Intensives in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

In 2015 Pixie established Yoga Vastu, an online platform to help students of Yoga gain more from their home practice and deepen their understanding of Iyengar Yoga.

Pixie is passionate about how best to communicate what she continues to learn through her practice. She believes that Yoga is a tool that allows each of us to find the best version of ourselves physically, emotionally and mentally, throughout all the different stages of our lives.
