BIOGRAPHY: A picture of Erin Ehlers, a white woman in a pink tank top with blue yoga mats behind her.

I’ve taught yoga for over 20 years. In these decades of devotion, I’ve been a hustling freelancer, a studio owner (in southern Maine, from 2008 to 2021) and now connect with many students online.

In my classes, it’s evident that I value understanding more than achievement. You’ll see that I teach movement skills as a means of doing a yoga pose, as a modern understanding of movement does not oppose the philosophical traditions of yoga. Rather, these two elements combine to create deep self-inquiry. Asana is best practiced as svādhyāya, and I encourage my students to look for the big answers in the physical practice.

I offer classes built on specific and detailed instruction, with wide margins for your own edits and revisions. My plank poses will refurbish your upper back, my balance poses will set your glutes aflame. Humor is my secret ingredient for teaching.

I'm also a licensed massage therapist, a yoga therapist and I have completed Kofi Busia's teachers' training twice over.

You can learn more about me on my website, see all my classes and course in my online studio, keep in touch on Instagram and check out more classes on YouTube.

Notes for People Attending Erin’s Sessions
This class is open to all levels, and may be of particular interest to anyone who needs to rehab or "pre-hab" a vulnerable area. We will use basic yoga props: 2 blankets, 2 blocks, a strap and a bolster (or household items that serve the same purpose). You are welcome to contact me with questions regarding this class:

To Feel and To Find: Asana with Isometrics

[A] On The Mat / Asana Class

1.5 hour(s)

Yoga encourages us to develop an awareness of self, and asana assists us in developing our physical awareness. Isometric contraction, using a muscle in stillness, can create clarity about our yoga poses, and how we use our muscles within them.

In this class, Erin will guide an open-level sequence of familiar asana with detailed, specific cues to access the small pieces of bigger poses. Your hip flexors become important to cobra, your adductors will hold your plank, child's pose highlights your latissimus and dog pose is supported by your pecs.

With a focus on developing proprioceptive awareness, To Feel and To Find will be an intriguing class for yogis who enjoy the details of asana as a means of broader awareness.

Please have a yoga mat, some wall space (or a heavy peice of furniture like a sofa) and your typical yoga props. Let Erin know before class if you are modifying for injury, or if you need suggestions for modifications.
