Gary Kraftsow is Founder and Director of the American Viniyoga Institute. He has been an innovator in the transmission of yoga for health, healing, and personal transformation for over 40 years. He began his study of yoga in India with T.K.V. DeÅ›ikÄcar in 1974 and received a Viniyoga Special Diploma from Viniyoga International in Paris, France in 1988.

Maya Lev was introduced to Surya Namaskar as a warm up when she was trained to bellydance at the age of 8. But it was not until she attended UCSC that she was introduced to Iyengar yoga by Sarah Pepper, who had just returned from Pune and strode about the studio insisting that students hold virabhadrasana II for what seemed like hours. Pixie Lillas started Yoga in Florence, Italy with Dona Holleman in 1976, and she made her first trip to study with BKS Iyengar at his Institute in Pune, India in 1977. Pixie found doing classes with Guruji over 2 months that year to be a completely transformative experience, and she has dedicated herself to the practice and teaching of Iyengar Yoga since then.
